Moon Tales...
I have been going mad about the moon lately...every single night the moon looks down upon me in all its glowing luminous glory and I go slightly mad...in a delicious sense! It feels like there is some magic in the night...in the cold night air, in the twinkling stars and the call of “something wild”! I wonder if this happens to everybody...this deep wish to share the magic of the moon in all its moods...the waxing and the waning phases. And the sad part is, even though I can feel the perfectness of the moment, it is near impossible to share. Few people understand the sheer poetry of that exact moment when you first notice the moon and are awed by it; most just think you have an ‘over the top’ reaction, others glance at it and think “What’s the big deal? The moon has been up there in the skies for eons!” and you have to be really lucky to find people who can share and appreciate that beauty. I count myself lucky that I can just call up my sister and wax poetic about something as supposedly everyday as the moon and yet she shall listen to me and let me pour out all my feelings and not laugh at them! And I am also lucky that I have friends who, though perhaps not moon-mad themselves, do notice my madness and yet do not judge me; instead they accept these idiosyncrasies and let me just be!
Perhaps the ‘Call of the Wild’ should be amended to ‘Call of the Moon’ for me! Ah! A moonlit night at the seashore, with the gentle sound of waves, shared with the people you love best in the world is a perfect night!

Look at my name... I neva realised how beautiful it was unless I saw the beauty of the full moon with my own eyes. I try to capture the moony beauty on my cell on full night mode.. but only eyes can see it. :)
@ vinay
i have always appreciated ur flights of imagination and even been a partner in the slight madness...but it is not always that people around u get what u r getting so excited about! also, this post was just for me to get the moon-madness out of me for now :)

I too have been this sort of moonstruck loads of times in my life, but it is not only moon that I go mad about! And it is a great pleasure to see others, especially such a close friend being same way ecstatic about about at least something, if not somebody.
One of the *big* happenings of 2008 was India reaching the moon! :D Jokes apart, who is not spellbound by the moon?! Astronomers to geologists. Photographers to poets... Whoever has had the freedom to roam under the open sky at night, has been influenced by the silent, yet pleasing company of the moon. For me, the stars and constellations have a similar effect. Orion (the hunter) attacking Taurus (the bull)... Ursa Major (large dipper) with the pole-star nearby... Andromeda (the princess) containing the Andromeda galaxy... The Pleades cluster... The milky way... these are all silent companions of the night! In any case, all of us are mad in our own unique ways! The madnesses and idiosyncrasies are actually what defines us...

Very nice post...A very dear subject! I liked the later part as well, where you talk about importance of being able to share such views with an understanding person...It happens so many times that a thing gives you immense joy or something to feel excited about...But all the joy and excitement feels multiplied and more worthy only when you share it with someone who understands you.
The moon to me signifies poetry, an unwritten story, a music note felt deep within, romance full throttle, silence that speaks....
the moon in crescent seen between the trees is heavenly...
I love the moon too and so can sooo understand you going gaga over it!
moonstruck!
